TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA WITH REGRET FOR I.S.R RACING
26/07/2015 - The much awaited round of the 24 Hours of Spa, fourth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series, ended today with an early retirement for I.S.R. racing that prevented the Czech squad to show its full potential.

Marco Bonanomi (ITA), Filip Salaquarda (CZ) and Frederic Vervisch (BEL) brought on the legendary circuit of Spa Francorchamps the number 75 Audi R8 LMS ultra. As always the weather of Ardennes alternated rain showers and clear skies, which affected lap times since qualifying. I.S.R. lineup ended with a quickest time of 2'19.857 posted in Qualifying 1, which earned them the sixteenth row of the grid.

The Audi R8 LMS ultra run by I.S.R. racing showed a good race pace in the warm up setting the thirteenth time, a result that made everyone optimist ahead of the race. The Total 24 Hours started under a torrential rain and the safety car had to be deployed several times in the initial hours due to the amount of water on track. Despite the difficult conditions, I.S.R. drivers managed to recoup all the way to P14 thanks to the double stints of Bonanomi and Vervisch, as the Italian posted one of the quickest laps of the first three hours.

During the fifth hour, on humid tarmac, Filip Salaquarda unfortunately had an excursion at the Blanchimont after placing two wheels on the wet. The Czech driver could not re-gain control of the car timely and hit the barriers, luckily without physical consequences for the driver. The damage sustained by the car unfortunately forced the lineup to the retirement.

Igor Salaquarda (I.S.R. racing, Team Principal):
"We regretfully had to end our race early: in the first hours, despite the difficult conditions, our drivers kept a great race pace and everything seemed to be in place for a good result. At Spa weather is often the main pitfall and in this occasion it played a major role on the outcome of our, as well as others, race".

The Blancpain Endurance Series will stop for a few weeks now before resuming next 19 September at Nurburgring with the final round of the season.
