A QUESTIONABLE PENALTY DEPRIVES BONANOMI, SALAQUARDA AND VERVISCH OF A PODIUM FINISH AT SILVERSTONE
24/05/2015 - The Silverstone weekend, second round of the Blancpain Endurance Series 2015, was apparently designed to deliver to I.S.R. racing team its first podium in the series at the end of a beautiful and hard-fought race where Marco Bonanomi, Filip Salaquarda and Frédéric Vervisch have been among the protagonists behind the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS ultra number 75.

The race lived its warmer phases in the last half hour, with the Audi works driver to defend the second position from Laurens Vanthoor's attacks. The overtaking happened twenty minutes far from the checkered flag, but a podium finish was anyway in the hands of I.S.R. Racing. A few minutes later an unexpected five-second penalty was inflicted by the race director to Bonanomi for exceeding the track limits. This moved the crew back one position in the final standings, with I.S.R. drivers fourth by only four tenths.

The failure of the differential during the third hour forced the car number 74 to retire after two excellent stints by Andrea Roda and Anders Fjordbach. The full recovery of Fabio Onidi, author of a good sequence of fast laps, was however positive.

Igor Salaquarda (I.S.R. racing, Team Principal):
"The today event really leaves us with a bitter taste: I think there has been too many inflexibility and a lack of impartiality in the application of a rule that, using the same yardstick, would have to penalize most of the drivers for the same reason. We decided not to appeal but I would like to express our disappointment for having lost a podium due to a questionable decision. "

The Blancpain Endurance Series will be back on track next 20 June at Paul Ricard.
